A. The Methodist Theological School is established to be the theological training center of the Methodist Church in Sarawak and overseas, with the purpose of serving the church through the following types of programmes.
- The training of ministers for both overseas churches and local churches, the Chinese and Iban Methodist Churches in particular.
- The training of supply pastors and diaconal ministers in both the Iban and Chinese Methodist Churches.
- The promotion of Refresher Courses for in-service ministers.
- The promotion of lay training through Theological Education by Extension (TEE), Short-Term Mission School (STMS), and Lay Leadership Training Program (LLT).
B. It is the hope of this theological school to provide a sound and practical theological training suited to the needs of both lay and ordained ministers in the Methodist Church in Sarawak and overseas churches. Thus, the main emphases of the training are:
- A devotion and commitment to the parish ministry.
- A balance between basic theological knowledge (especially Wesleyan Theology) and practical experience.
- An orientation to the local situation and its needs.
- Growth through personal guidance and fellowship.
- Creating mission mindedness and awareness among the teachers and students.
C. This School will develop and integrate a special program into present Degree Program to diaconal ministers for church and Christian organizations.
