i. Theological Students and STMS Students may borrow up to 6 books. This may be increased for Theological Students only if necessary, on application to the Dean of Library. The graduate and thesis writing students are allowed to borrow up to 12 books. Borrowing by using another student’s card is prohibited.
ii. Regular loan books must be returned by the due date. This will be three weeks from the date the book is checked out. Overdue items will be fined 10 cents per item per day. Renewal of books is permitted only one. For the graduate and thesis writing students can apply twice, provided no other person requires the book.
iii. No book can be taken from the library except it be properly issued. Penalty will be imposed on those who disregard this rule.
iv. Reference books and current journals are not to be removed from the Library by any users. If you require a photocopy of material in a reference book or journal it should be left in the photocopy table with the photocopy form, and come to collect on the next day at 11:00a.m.
v. If a book you require is on loan to another person, please inform the library staff that will then reserve the book for you.
vi. Library books are not to be marked in any way, not even with pencils, or folding the corners of pages as your bookmarks. Do take care of the books you borrow out.
vii. The borrower must replace items that are lost. The cost of book inclusive of the handling & postage +20% of the total cost must be paid to cover additional expenses such as cataloguing.
viii. It is not permitted to borrow more than 2 copies of book, which belong to the same category (exegetical books in particular).
ix. All periodicals, archival materials, theses and uncatalogued materials are considered Reference Books. They are not to be taken out of library, unless with the approval of the Dean of library.
x. No food, drink or bag is permitted in the Library. Please leave your bag on the cabinet at the entrance of the Library and dress properly.
xi. Students are not allowed to enter the Dean’s office and library counter, which is strictly for the Dean library, library staff or student who was assigned for the library duty.
xii. Do your part to keep the library tidy and silent. Mobile phone is prohibited. Do not monopolize a table with your own piles of books. We do not have enough desk room for all students and you are asked to be sensitive to the needs of others.
xiii. There is emergency lighting in case of power failure. No candles are to be used in the library.
xiv. Students are expected to do their share of library duty.
xv. Dormitory checks for library books will be carried out if necessary.
xvi. Disciplinary action will be taken against those who offend and do not abide the library rules.
xvii. Students will not be permitted to graduate from the MTS without a clearance from the library that all books have been returned and any fines paid.
xviii. All graduating student must return books to the library one week before the graduation day, and the librarian will sign to ensure that the above-mentioned discipline is kept.
xix. Any breach of the library rules is considered unacceptable, and would result in forfeiting the privilege of using our library facilities as an external borrower.
